Full of Flux

Come learn the two ways that Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, the founders of Zentangle®, create this beautiful, free flowing organic pattern, highlighted with a Gold Metallic Gelly Roll pen.

Pattern Drawing Klimt-style

This class focuses on Gustav Klimt – a painter from the turn of the 20th century who is most well-known for his glittering portraits of women and his gorgeous use of patterns and metallic gold. Come and explore a few of those patterns on your project in today’s class.

Pattern Drawing Fragments & Reticula

Create a fun project using fragments and reticula.  Come see what wonderful surprises that we create within each space.  It’s a basic beginning lesson on Fragments which will stretch your creativity.  A Fragment is the design elements that is placed in a space. They can be rotated or mirrored to produce a variety of outcomes in a very simple and magical way.  This lesson is taught from a book entitled, "Primer Vol. I" written by Zentangle® founders, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts.

Patterned Drawing with Heart Strings

This class is a requirement for most other Zentangle classes..

This is an introductory class to introduce you to and help you become acquainted with the Zentangle® drawing method.  Come and discover this new and creative patterned drawing art. This class is for those who have no previous art training or drawing experience as well as experienced folks who want to learn this specific technique. The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images and mini works of art. Zentangle® was founded by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas.

The photo shows one or two tangle designs within a pencil outlined heart. Our class project may be a different design that is shown in the photo.

Learn more about Zentangle® on our "What Is Zentangle" page (here).

Tangle Friendship Club

This free event is open to my students and the public. My goal it to create a “zen-like” atmosphere in which tangle enthusiasts can create and share with one another. You may want to bring a battery operated portable light with you. This time will be set aside to work on our projects and share a thing or two with the group, if you would like. To keep the “zen” philosophy of the event I ask that you keep your small children and babies at home.

I am looking forward to our Tangle Club gathering. Bakersfield needs a social artistic group of artists for creative people like you. Hope to see you there!

Word of the Year

Inspired and created by Zentangle Artist and Teacher, Romi Marks.

Choose an inspiring word to give you inspiration for the new year. Beginning class is preferred by not required. This will make a beautiful art piece and a gentle reminder throughout the year.

Patterned Labyrinth

A Labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of a circle (in this case a square) and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path.

In this class we will learn different fragments and designs to draw along that spiral path.

This is an intermediate class and is open to returning students. The beginning class is a pre-requisite to this class.
